Google Wear OS: Possibility to backup smartwatch data soon

Currently, if you own a smartwatch with Wear OS, but then switch to a new smartphone, you have to completely factory reset your wearable to pair it with your new phone. There are workarounds, but generally it’s a cumbersome thing. In the Google Play Services code v22.32.12 Beta meanwhile indicates that Google is working on a better solution.

Accordingly, it would then be possible to use the data of your Back up your Wear OS smartwatch to Google One and then transfer it. That would simplify a seamless transition with all previous information. The colleagues from XDA-Developers have discovered the preparations for the new option.

It is possible that Google will present this new option for data backup parallel to the introduction of the Pixel Watch. The latter is currently expected, like the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, for October 2021.
