8.Church

The church is the sacred place in a Christian's heart. And the Chinese churches con cam the Chinese cultural traditions.

The renowned Romanian religious scholar Mircea Eliade once precisely discovered the role of church in 3 Christian's mind. He
thought the church's gate separated two dirfeient worlds: secular world and religious world.
When the new building of Zhusheng Church in Shanghai was completed in I 925 with such Chinese architectural features as
red bricks and triangular roof. although some western styles remained to be seen in the round rose windows and The regular
three-corridor sryle inside the church, a strong implication of Chinese traditional culture could still be felt out of the
additional square turret at the northwest corner of the church, which expresses itself with a unique architectural language
of Chinese churches.
The church is far more than a house or a building, but home to God's sons and daughters. And the Chinese Christians'
understanding about the church has gone far beyond their understanding about Architecture itself. And their understanding
about the church has been shown in their thinking about the harmonious relationship between human and God. between people and
society and between people. In fact, today's Chinese churches are turning from adoring the original religious principles to
giving more importance to church architecture. From the church, the holly palace of God, the Chinese Christians are gaining
their confidence and power. Meanwhile, God's love also encourages them to share God's bless with more people outside the
church. As a place to honor God, benefit people and serve the community, the churches in China have become a historical landmark
showing the concerted efforts of the Christians and the people to build a beautiful homeland.
