Speech on the Launch Ceremony of Beijing Olympic Torch Relay in Shihezi

Ladies and gentlemen, my honored Mr. Zhang Ming, vice standing director of Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee:

Today, the Olympic Flame, the symbol of peace, friendship and hope, comes to the new Cultivation Town Shihezi and we feel much honored. Here, I’d like to express my thanks to Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee and all people in our country for your trust and love for Xinjiang Construction and Production Corps. 

Since the establishment of more than 50 years ago, the Corps has always faithfully carry out the political tasks of protecting the border and it plays a special and important role in accelerating the social development, promoting the ethnic unity, consolidating the national frontier defense and maintaining the unification of our country. The torch relay in Shihezi will represent a city where the leaders, staff and citizens are looking forward to the Olympics and the window to show Shihezi to the world. It is not only a oasis city full of military cultivation and also a city full of energy. And we convince that the Corps including Shihezi will make new contributions and achieve new performance in the stable development of Xinjiang under the shine of Olympic flame.

Good luck for Beijing Olympics and best wishes for China. We sincerely hope that the torch relay in Shihezi will be carried out successfully and Beijing Olympic Games will achieve great success!
