Beijing 2008 Olympic torch relay will be held in 4 prefectures and cities of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region from June 17 to June 19, 2008.

·         According to the arrangement of Beijing Olympic Torch Relay, 2008 Olympics Torch will arrive in Urumqi by air from Chongqing to Beijing on the evening of 16th. And the relay will start on 17th and last 3 days until the 19th. The Olympic torch will travel from the south to the north of Mt. Tianshan, from the Center of Asia—Urumqi, important town on Ancient Silk Road—Kashigar, No.1 Cultivation Town of the Republic — Shihezi and Pearl at the North Foot of Mt. Tianshan--- Changji, the total distance is more than 3000 kilometers.

On 17th, the torch relay will be held in Urumqi. The starting ceremony will be held at Urumqi People’s Square at 9:30 and the relay will conclude at West Square of Xinjiang Sports Center at 11:55, costing 2 hours and 5 minutes with 208 torchbearers traveling along 12.48 kilometers.

On 18th, the torch relay will be held in Kashigar. The starting ceremony will be held at Aitigar Square at 9:30 and the relay will conclude at Kashigar People’s Square at 11:45, costing 1 hour and 45 minutes with 208 torchbearers traveling along 6.5 kilometers.

On 19th, the torch relay will be held in Shihezi. The starting ceremony will be held at Party and Governmental Service Center Square at 9:30 and the relay will conclude at Entertainment Square at 11:40, costing 2 hour and 10 minutes with 104 torchbearers along 8 kilometers. And at 13:00 pm, the Olympic torch will travel to Changji from Shihezi. The torch will be lit at 15: 55 at Changji Government Affair Center and the relay will conclude at 17:00 at Changji Asia Central Square, costing 1 hour with 104 torch bearers traveling along 4.2 kilometers.
