Xinhuanet, Berlin, September 24 (by Wu Liming) Hundreds of celebrities attended the opening ceremony of the China Xinjiang Cultural Week at the Chinese Cultural Center in Berlin, Germany on September 24.

Deputy secretary of Xinjiang regional Party committee Nuer Baikeli, Chinese Ambassador Ma Canrong and State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of the Interior in Berlin Mr Flesch cut the ribbon at the opening ceremony of China Xinjiang Cultural Week.

Introducing Xinjiang’s social, economic and cultural progress in recent years, Nuer Baikeli said in his speech that he hoped more German people could visit Xinjiang as the region is experiencing rapid economic development and has rich cultures.

Mr Flesch said the activity coincided with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of German-China diplomatic relations. It showed that great progress had been achieved by the two sides in the fields such as politics, economy and culture.

The Xinjiang delegation will showcase ethnic dresses and ornaments, photos, paintings, books and videos. It will go to Frankfurt and Dusseldorf on September 28 and 29, respectively, to stage performances and hold exhibitions.
