Berlin ‘Xinjiang Cultural Week’

China Xinjiang Cultural Week opened on September 24th in Berlin of Germanyoffering a golden opportunity for local people to have a real taste of the region’s cultures. Please enjoy our dispatches from Berlin, Germany.

 Jointly hosted by the State Council Information Office, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Government, Parliament of Berlin, Germany, China Xinjing Cultural Week will be held at the Chinese Cultural Center of Berlin on September 24th and in Frankford on September 29th. In both cities, grand dancing and singing performances are expected to be staged by Xinjiang Art Troupe to showcase the region’s distinct arts and cultures. A photo exhibition will also be held to tell visitors about today’s Xinjiang. A TV series titled “Charm of Xinjiang” will introduce the region’s landscape, paintings, music, furnishing and handicraft, helping viewers to acquire a better knowledge of the local life.

“Xinjiang is wonderland, with rich cultures and history. But the Europeans do very little about it. We hope the cultural week could help present the real look of the region. It’s our sincere wish that our friends in Europe could know more about Xinjiang and love this place,” said Hou Hanmin, director of the news office of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

Situated in Northwest China, Xinjiang is the largest provincial-level region in China. It has a population of 20 million, with 60 percent of who are minority groups. A mixture of difference minorities and cultures makes Xinjiang different.

“Xinjiang must be very beautiful, as I can see from the photos. I hope I could make a trip to the place,” said Rout, head of the Delisdun Museum of Germany.
