As the temperature rises, XJ may see waterlogging in north area and drought in south area. In order to ensure the life and production of farmers and herdsmen, XJ urgently makes deployment on flood-control and drought prevention, and tries to turn danger into safety.

Now, the work for ice and snow melting flood prevention in north XJ and drought-resistance in south XJ has been arranged. The prevention measures have been enhanced against hidden disaster in north parts of XJ especially in Altay, Tacheng and Ili River Valley, north slope of Tianshan Mountains and east Tianshan Mountains with much accumulated snow. Necessary materials are also stored up.

"We have set up observation post at every gully. Along Ili River, we consolidated the 300-metre-long river bank which is easy to be destroyed by flood. We also prepare 3,000 nets made of galvanized wire, and reserve 1,500 cubic meters of cobbles."

South XJ should do well water storage beforehand, taking the advantage of the thick snow and increasing amount of water storage. At the same time, they should make use of the effects of water saving facility of high-efficiency agriculture in water diversion, to improve the drought-resistance of farmland.
