Chinese shares open 3.3% lower amid global slump

BEIJING, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- Chinese share prices tumbled 3.3 percent at opening on Tuesday in the wake of Monday's global market slump as investors worried the outlook of the world economy.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened at 2101.09 points, down 72.65 points or 3.3 percent from Monday's closing index of 2173.74. The Shenzhen Component Index opened 6939.68 points, down 277.63 points or 3.8 percent from Monday's closing 7217.32 points.
