The winter wheat sowing work in XJ has been carried out in full swing. The sowing work in south XJ has started and preparations for farming materials and machines in north XJ have also finished. Encouraged by the preferential policies of comprehensive subsidy for grain and farming materials, farmers are sowing winter wheat in high enthusiasm.

XJ plans to enlarge the winter wheat planting area to 9.3 mln mu in this year, 1.5 mln mu more than that in 2007. The average per mu output will increase to 350 kg. And the total output of wheat in the whole year will maintain at over 4 mln tons. This year, XJ will give special support to the construction of fine strain cultivation base in the main wheat production places and carry out high-yield project in 40 main wheat production counties, to form 5 mln mu of high-yield field with per mu output of 400 to 500 kg, thus increasing the per mu output of wheat in XJ by 15 to 20 kg, reaching 360 kg.

In order to keep the smooth sowing of winter wheat,the farming machinery departments at all places select staff members to examine and repair farm machineries in villages in advance. Meanwhile,they also take time to train agro-technicians, thus improving their techniques and capability on winter wheat sowing, and providing a technique guarantee for wheat harvest.
