BEIJING, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- Vice President Xi Jinping urged members of the Communist Party of China (CPC) to stick to people's basic interests as the core value as the new term for the Party School of the CPC Central Committee began on Monday.

During the 30 years since the reform and opening up policy, the party has been building itself amid considerable changes in the country and the world, said Xi, also president of the school, at the opening ceremony.

Xi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said the party had been making significant progress in its organization, working style and anti-corruption fight.

"Facts again prove that the CPC could not only lead the country's revolution to success, but also guarantee the victory of reform and opening up," he said.

More than 1,800 students and school staff attended the ceremony.
