The second west-to-east natural gas transmission pipeline construction is well underway. It is the 1st large pipeline project importing natural gas from foreign countries to China.

Ili section, the 1st section of the project, will cross Tianshan Mountains via Guozigou of Ili Prefecture to Bortala Prefecture. Now the pipeline construction in Ili section has dug over 120 km of pipeline channel, laid 122,476 pipelines and buried over 100 km.

The second pipeline project, with a total investment of 142.2 bln yuan, is a key energy infrastructure construction project in the National 11th 5-year Program. Its completion bears great significance for optimizing energy consumption structure, lessening the tension of natural gas supply and upgrading the operational level of natural gas network.
