In recent years, all places of XJ actively combine villages renovation with construction of anti-quake housing, poverty-relief project,eco-construction and herdsmen settlement.In 2007,the investment in village and town construction reached close to 9.3 bln yuan in whole XJ, the most over the past years.The overall planning for 137 administrative towns and 363 market towns have been completed.

At present,accumulatively 35.4 bln yuan has been invested in anti-quake housing project in urban and rural areas. 8.37 mln people moved into anti-quake houses. Through building garden towns,the greening area in whole XJ topped 8,347 hectares. The per capita greening area was 5.78 square meters.
