(tianshannet) Updated: 2008-August-25 10:26:11

Of late days, the corridor project for preventing drifting snow along Jinghe-Ining-Horgas Railway completed. It is the first of its kind in China.

Jinghe-Ining-Horgas Railway traverses the hills of South Tianshan Mountains. Some sections see 6 months of accumulated snow and the maximum wind force is at Beaufort scale 10, posing a threat to the train. The completion of the project will build up a steel wall against the wind and snow for the railway.

It is introduced that, at present, around 34 km of severely affected sections along the Jinghe-Ining-Horgas Railway have built the corridor for preventing drifting snow.
