XJ has newly put forward a series of measures to encourage the grain planting. Through enlarging the grain production area, it wants to ensure a balance of total output of grain and grain safety in the whole region.

In 2008, the winter wheat planting area will increase to 9.3 mln mu, 1.5 mln mu more than that in 2007, so as to ensure a total wheat output of over 4 mln tons in 2009. Meanwhile, all parts of XJ also enlarge the planting area of corn, expecting a planting area of 10.5 mln mu and output of 6.26 mln tons in next year. This year, XJ will arrange another 10 mln Yuan of grain production awarding fund and some subsidies for fine seeds planting, to arouse farmer's enthusiasm for grain planting. Meanwhile, South XJ will go on popularizing the planting mode for wheat, corn and other multi-cropping and high efficient crops. North XJ will promote the double cropping technique and develop planting technology in protection field and facility agriculture in large area.
