Fighting The Drought Ensure a Harvest

This year, some parts of XJ see drought from spring to summer. Facing the most severe drought since 1974, all parts of XJ make great efforts to fight against drought and adopt various measures to enhance the comprehensive ability of drought fighting, thus ensuring a bumper harvest and efficiency increase in agriculture.
In view of the present drought, Hotan Prefecture integrates the short-term and long-term drought fighting measures, accelerates the electromechanical well drilling, anti-seeping channels construction, and strengthens the anti-drought infrastructure construction.
According to XJ's requirement on further exploring and using the underground water in North XJ, Tacheng Prefecture newly drilled over 120 electromechanical wells this year, so as to increase anti-drought water source and meet the emergency water demand for fighting drought.
Though drought hit many places in XJ, benefiting from the popularization of under film dripping irrigation technique, the crops in some towns and townships of Aksu, Hami and Altay all grow well. The under film dripping irrigation technique not only saves cost and increases efficiency, but also makes full use of the water resource.

In the previous years, I can irrigate my cotton field for two times, however in this year, I have irrigated the field for 5 times. The dripping irrigation saves water, fertilizer and pesticide for us.
Besides saving cost, the under film dripping irrigation can also increases output. With over 2000 mu oil sunflower and smacking watermelon adopting dripping irrigation, farmer Dong Jun in Tuoputiereke Township of Jimnai County can see output increase of about 20%.
