On Aug. 4th, the harvest work  started for 1000-mu tomato by machine in demo base of the Changji National Agricultural Sci-Tech Demonstration Park. It symbolizes that the pilot planting for tomato harvest with machine in Changji Prefecture gets success, and it is also the first of its kind in XJ.

It is learned that,the machine can harvest 200 tons of tomatoes in good and large fields every day,  equal with the one day workload of 300 workers. One tomato harvest machine can finish the picking work in 5 to 7 mu tomato field in one hour.

This year, Changji Prefecture totally plants 14,000 mu tomatoes which can be harvested by machine. This mode can not only save the labor, but also improve the quality of tomato. It is learned that, harvesting tomato by machine will be promoted in whole XJ.
