BEIRUT, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Lebanese national unity government on Monday unanimously adopted its policy statement, paving the way for confidence vote in the parliament.

Information Minister Tarek Mitri made the announcement to reporters after a five-hour meeting at the presidential palace in a Beirut suburb.

"All ministers agreed in unanimity on the cabinet manifesto," which affirms the authority of the state over all matters, including the weaponry held by Hezbollah, Mitri told the press.

Some ministers in the ruling majority at first had reservations on the paragraph indicating Hezbollah can keep its weapons, but all the cabinet voted in favor of the policy document in the end, Mitri further explained.

On Friday, Lebanese political factions have reached a compromise over Hezbollah's weapons by releasing a vaguely worded draft statement that implies the militant group can keep its weapons.

Following the Monday approval of the policy statement, Prime Minister Fuad Saniora's 30-member national unity government is widely expected to win the parliament vote later this week because it has representatives from both the majority and the opposition.
