Recently, the second phase protection and repairing work for Kumutula Thousand Buddha Cave--national key cultural relics protection unit,completed and got approval from the experts. Kumutula Thousand Buddha Cave is located on the bank of Weigan River 20 kilometers away from Kuqa County in northwest. It was built up in the 5th century. The second phase protection and repairing work started in May, 2006. It mainly undertakes the urgent reinforcement work for the cracked and broken down rocks,and peeled off fresco.
