At present, National Highway 217 Shaya-Alar section, the key project at state level, has completed two thirds of the total since it started construction in August 2007.
The project, with a total investment of 730 mln Yuan, is 179 km long. Upon its completion, the highway will connect Alar-Hotan Highway in the south with Dushanzi-Kuqa Highway in the north, linking to the economic belt along the northern slope of Tianshan Mountains.
