Changji Prefecture actively adjusts the aquatic products structure and broadens its development channels. Up to now, it has formed pollution-free aquatic products producing mode with famous, quality, featured and new strains.The aquatic products output in Changji Prefecture has topped in whole XJ for 17 consecutive years.
In 2007, the aquatic products output in Changji Prefecture reached 15,000 tons, with production value of 173 mln Yuan and 30 mln of fishery added value. At present, the breeding strains in Changji have reached over ten. Nearly 10,000 mu of water area in 4 bases has passed the provincial approval of pollution-free fishery base. Meanwhile, Changji City has been named as the pollution-free aquatic breeding demo area and demo city for programming the tidal land of aquatic breeding water area by the Ministry of Agriculture.
