Now the latest news about XJ Medical Rescue Team in Sichuan. After 4 days' tough journey, at 2:00 p.m. May 21st, XJ Medical Rescue Team arrived in Mao County, the worst-hit area in the earthquake. As soon as they arrived, they started rescue and epidemic prevention work.
In order to arrive at Mao County as early as possible, the team set out at 8:00 a.m. May 21st from the bus stop of Heishui County. Along the National Highway 213, many large-sized machines, like billdozer, excavating machines, are busy repairing. Therefore, the team proceeded slowly and arrived at Fengyi Town of Mao County at around 14:00. Learned from the local departments, 80% of the houses in the county were damaged. The rescue and clean work has almost closed. Medicines and medical staffs are in urgent need.
It is learned that, XJ Medical Rescue Team is the 1st team from other provinces to Mao County,and it is also the one with the largest scale and most medical equipments and medicines. 76 members of the team are divided into 6 branch teams. They will respectively undertake diseases prevention work in 4 townships including Guangming, Dongxing, Fushun,and Tumen, as well as 2 towns inclusive of Fengyi and Nanxin.
