XJ has many tops in China and wonders in the world. Now, with abundant tourism resources, XJ is becoming a destination with unique features in west China.

In 2007, XJ has received 438,400 men/times of inbound tourists, earning 162 mln USD of foreign exchanges, respectively rise by 59.2% and 63.6% compared with 2006. It has also received 21.26 mln men/times of domestic tourists, with domestic tourism income of 19.292 bln yuan, respectively rise by 1.2 times and 1.3 times compared with 2006.

Kashgar Prefecture is a key area for XJ’s folklore cultural tour. CPPCC member Zhang Bingshan thinks that, the folklore tour promotion should not be limited to knife, flower cap and national delicacies, its historic and cultural connotation should be explored.

CPPCC member Bageguli Wolaletai brings with her some embroidered national handicrafts. She thinks that, the individual-owned businessmen should be encouraged to exert their functions in the special tourism souvenirs market with more preferential policies.

"My embroiders are short of supply in these days. I have also received an order from Kazakhstan businessman. Now I want to expand the scale and hope the relevant department can give me some supports in loan and market information."

CPPCC member Chi Chongqing suggests that efforts should be made to break the policy and traffic bottleneck, hence promoting the leap-forward development of XJ’s border tourism.

CHI CHONGQING, member of CPPCC XJ committee: 

"We can take the neighboring countries, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan as the destination countries for Chinese citizens’ outbound tour. We’ll have to open the border tourism at the 17 category-A ports. Moreover, our airlines should also offer flights to central, West and South Asia as well as Europe through many air routes."
