(tianshannet) Updated: 2006-June-9 09:56:18

In 2005, Xinjiang's international tourism income topped 100 mln USD. The international tourists reached 330,000 men/times.

From 1992, Xinjiang put great efforts in developing tourist-shopping industry. Thus the coming international tourists saw a rapid increase. The rapid development of the tourist-shopping markets, in which tourists are mainly from Kazakhstan, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Republic of Mongolia, Pakistan and some other neighboring countries of China, takes up half of Xinjiang's total international tourism income. It is learned that, Xinjiang's major tourist-shopping destinations are the land ports in Ili, Altay and Kashgar, thus the borderline tourist-shopping markets, inclusive the Ports of Horgas, Kanjirap and Urumqi, have been formed.

In the past decade, Xinjiang's tourist-shopping income topped nearly 10 billion RMB, with the annual increase of over 10%.
