Within the Bortala Mongolian Autonomous Prefectureis a major sight of strangely-shaped rocks strewn over anarea of several dozen kilometers where granite rock, due toweathering, has been carved into numerous strange shapesby the hand of nature. People have given them names appropriate to their shapes, such as the Giant,the General, theLiving Buddha, the Monk,Mother and Child, the Lovers, etc.Rocks that are in shapes of animals were also given such names as the Heavenly Horse, the Rhino, the Antelope,the Dog,the Monkey, the Turtle and others.Then there's also the Natural Bridge, the Pillar, the Cave, and the Precipice. The multiple, odd but vivid shapes of the rock accounts for its name.
