The Revak Ruins lie over 50 kilometers to thenorth west of the county seat of Lopu, in the midst ofthe Kula Kansman Desert. 'Revak" in Uygur means"pagoda',so named because of the earthen stupa in the temple.
The Revak Buddhist Temple is made up of a groupof temples with a stupa as its center in a square courtyard, and the temples outside the courtyard.Aurel Stein believed that the historical evolvement of the temple began in the early centuries whereas Chinese scholars think that its boom to bust was around the 4th century to the middle of the 7th century.
The Revak Temple Ruins are the few remaining temple ruins, and its existence is meaningful to the research on ancient Yutien Buddhist culture, architecture, and painting.
