Maixilaipu

Maixilaipu, or "a convivial song-and-dance party on the square" in the Uygur language, is traditional entertainment way with a long history. All people can join in performances, no matter whether men or women, old or young. There are no strict limitations on numbers of players or performance time.

Maixilaipu can be played anywhere at anytime on festival days or at wedding celebrations, with singing and dancing in a warm and festive atmosphere. Activities sometimes continue through the next day. Maixilaipu is the most popular entertainment activity for the Uygur people.
